COSPLAYER PROFILES: Noel Atienza

"Cosplay for me is a celebration of my favorite characters and to step into their persona as a means of entertainment and an escape from all the negative things happening around us in real life. I cosplay to be the characters I love however brief it may be," says NOEL ATIENZA.

I still occasionally join competitions but lately I'm into cosplay as a profession as well; doing movie promotions, birthdays, private or public company events, TV commercials or appearances, charity hospital visits, merchandise promotion, cafe openings, and of course for FUN.

This proves that in cosplaying there is also some sort of income generation if you just find the right mix.  I have known Noel for quite some time, he is also a member of Naruto Cosplayers PH (NCPH).

Noel Atienza, The Cosplayer

When did you start cosplaying

Started at Toycon 2015, made my costume by hand myself, joined and won my first cosplay competition then continued ever since.

What inspired you to cosplay?

  • Spectacular Spider-man
  • Superior Spider-man (all versions)
  • Amazing Spider-man
  • MCU homecoming and Infinity War Spider-man
  • Starkiller (Star Wars Force Unleashed game)
  • Old Republic Jedi
  • Jedi Master
  • Darth Vader
  • Brendan (Pokemon Trainer)
  • Kurama Fox form (Yuyu Hakusho)
  • Momoshiro Takeshi (POT)
  • Haseo 4th form ( .hack//rebirth)
  • Green Ranger (Bat in the Sun)
  • White Ranger
  • Green Lantern Kyle Rayner
  • Nightwing
  • Kirito GGO

Plans in the Future as a Cosplayer

Noel shared with us that his best experience as a cosplayer is winning cosplay competitions and stage performances on Major events with Fightsaber.  FightSaber is an organization which trains their members in using and doing exhibitions doing a lighsabre.

What is your future plan as a cosplayer?

Someday I'd like to attend New York Comic Con or San Diego Comic Con and join the cosplay community there.

What is your message to other cosplayers?

Please, for the love of cosplay, STOP with the negativity, bashing, divided communities and bad attitudes. This is our escape from all the negativity in real life, no need to bring it here as well. Let us enjoy our fandoms together and leave all the ego out of it. Be respectful to others and if you don't have anything decent to say, keep it to yourself. Being polite will take you places.

If there is one great takeaway from our COSPLAYER PROFILE feature for today which is NOEL ATIENZA is that he believes this community can still be fun and friendly.  So, I agree let us be more positive together.

We are also encouraging other cosplayers to submit and be part of Cosplayer Profiles.
