In the Philippines, Dr. Pepper is not usually sold in the regular convenience store like 7-11, Ministop or even Family Mart.  I am wondering if Lawson is selling them, which I think they are.  We managed to get ahold of Dr. Pepper through one of our fellow bloggers here in the site who is an avid fan of Mystic Messenger.

What makes 707 and Okabe Rintaro like Dr. Pepper?

So we did try Dr. Pepper.  It's ingredients includes:
  • Carbonated Water
  • Sugar
  • Colour (Caramel E150d)
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Preservative (Potassium Sorbate)
  • Flavourings Including Caffeine
  • Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K)
  • Contains a Source of Phenylalanine
It has a very unique taste which had been enjoyed for over a century now.  It contains a sparkling blend of 23 fruit flavors according to their site which is not indicated in the ingredient list.

Want to know one of the closes reason?  It seems that Dr. Pepper is marketed as the "drink for the intelligent people.".  That is why Okabe Rintaro of Steins Gate and Luciel Choi of Mystic Messenger associates themselves with Dr. Pepper.

Origin of Dr. Pepper

You might think that Dr. Pepper is from Japan or Korea but it is not.  It is a popular American drink created by Texas pharmacist Charles Alderton in 1885. He gave a sample of the first batch to Wade Morrison, a local shop owner, who agreed to stock the drink, and – according to Dr Pepper legend – named it after the father of a girl he loved. The unique, bold taste of Dr Pepper has been popular ever since.

Coca-Cola manufactures and distributes Dr. Pepper internationally.  This is perhaps the main reason why another product Coca-Cola Vanilla has the same taste and feel like this drink.
