Netflix Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action First Impressions, Casting, and Main Character Art

Netflix reveals casting and main character art for the upcoming Yu Yu Hakusho live-action series

Yu Yu Hakusho  will be  premiering worldwide, and only on Netflix in December 2023

The series is based on the legendary Japanese manga of the same name by Yoshihiro Togashi, which was originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha as Jump Comics) starting in 1990. The manga is considered a fan-favorite and has sold over 50 million copies in Japan alone.

Yusuke

Takumi Kitamura (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, Tokyo Revengers) will be taking on the lead role of Yusuke Urameshi in Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the legendary manga Yu Yu Hakusho, where a teen dies and becomes an ‘underworld detective’ to investigate cases involving demons.

First Impression: I think the looks of the actor is quite similar to the anime, fierce and serious but we still have to see if he can be as endearing as the one in the anime as well.

Kurama

Jun Shison (Battle of Supreme High, Bubble) will be taking on the role of Kurama in Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the legendary manga Yu Yu Hakusho.

First Impression: I just have a bit of an issue with the wig and the color of the hair but we still need to see the acting. All good.

Hiei

Kanata Hongo (Kingdom, Attack on Titan) will be taking on the role of Hiei in Netflix’s upcoming live action adaptation of the legendary manga Yu Yu Hakusho.

First Impression: I like how he looks because it is very fierce and serious.  I can feel that this actor will play very well as Hiei. Looking forward to seeing the full character look.  Actually, this is the one that made me more excited about Yu Yu Hakusho.

Kuwabara

Shuhei Uesugi will be taking on the role of Kazuma Kuwabara in Netflix’s upcoming live action adaptation of the legendary manga Yu Yu Hakusho.

First Impression: He is too handsome compared to the anime character plus they need to change the hair color.

By the way, we were also surprised by the leak of who will play Jericho in the live-action series, and thanks to T Hoops for the insider look.

Just joking but good work T Hoops!

About Yu Yu Hakusho

The manga revolves around Yusuke Urameshi, a junior high school student who spends his days getting into fights and dies in an accident while trying to protect a young child. As he grapples with the fact that he is looking down on his dead body, a woman named Botan, who calls herself a guide to the spirit world, relays to him the shocking truth: no one expected a delinquent like Yusuke to die performing an act of goodness, and there was no place for him in either heaven or hell. Thus, Yusuke is given a chance to be revived, and after passing his trial, he becomes an Underworld Detective. From there, Yusuke becomes entwined in a mystery that envelopes the human, demon, and spirit worlds. The spectacular adventure of Yusuke will now become a live-action series on Netflix.
