ANIMAX ANI-MATE IN FOCUS: Maronne Cruz

ANIMAX ANI-MATE IN FOCUS: Maronne Cruz.  This lady had been cosplaying for quite sometime already though she says not continuesly.  She was trying on cosplay since she was 2nd Year High School.  "Here I am counting my horrible horrible first attempts at cosplaying. HAHA!" Maronne recalls.

She was an avid fan of cosplay ever since Day 1 and we mean Day 1.  She was immersed into the scene when she was in Grade III which is also the first ever convention in the Philippines.  Since then, Maronne find cosplaying cool and wanted to cosplay as well.

Maronne was also one of those who are fond of crossdressing or cosplaying male characters as well.  Here are some of her cosplays:
  • Girls:
  1. Maka Albarn from Soul Eater
  2. Stocking from Panty & Stocking
  3. Sayaka Miki from Puella Magi Madoka Magica
  4. Ranka Lee from Macross Frontier
  5. Fionna from Adventure Time
  • Boys:
  1. Ciel Phantomhive from Black Butler
  2. England from Hetalia
  3. Trainer Red from Pokemon
  4. Near from Death Note
Again we ask our Animax Animate-Finalist the same set of questions and here is Maroone's answers:

WHY DO YOU COSPLAY?
I love crafts making, anime, acting and fashion/clothing so cosplay is the perfect creative burger that satisfies my dorky hunger. Haha! It sometimes even allows me to sing and dance too, so really.. I think my entire personality is the answer to why I cosplay. It just makes sense with who I am and what I love!
(Plus, HELLO, what's NOT to love about being an anime character with magical powers and awesome weapons for a day or two?)
WHAT IS YOUR BEST EXPERIENCE IN COSPLAYING?
Making video blogs in conventions with my best friends, who cosplay with me. They're over here! http://www.youtube.com/user/maronnecruz

WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE TO OTHER COSPLAYERS?
Keep the cosplay scene alive, it's such a wonderful hobby!! Don't stop cosplaying-- in fact, do your best to make better and better cosplays!

We also asked Maronne of her future plans and we are lucky to get a nice reply from one of the Animax Ani-mate finalist, "I definitely wanna do professional theatre and film! I also wanna have my own punk/streetwear clothing brand, and of course, I wanna keep having the opportunity to cosplay!"

In the interview we asked everyone the question WHY THEY WANT TO BE AN ANIMAX ANI-MATE though not everyone did reply to this question.  Here is the reason why Maronne wants to win the Animax Ani-mate contest during Animax Carnival Asia:
I want to be an Ani-Mate because I think I can hopefully bring something fresh, spunky and exciting to the table! I'm a very passionate anime/cosplay enthusiast and performer, and I would be more than happy to hone and share my talents with everyone in the cosplay community and hopefully inspire them to do the same-- and be proud of cosplaying and loving anime too! HAHA it sounds overrated and cheesy, but I really really mean it!
