2017 Japanese Anime Live Action


Anime fanswould surely love 2017 because there are tons of upcoming Anime Live Action movies this 2017.  We summarize some of the upcoming live action movies which we had so far got knowledge about so that you can prepare for it.  We are hoping that all of them will also be shown in the Philippines.

TOKYO GHOUL


This is perhaps one of the famous new anime which had received much publicity.  Tokyo Ghoul live action will feature Masataka Kubota as Ken Kaneki and Fumika Shimizu as Tōka Kirishima.  The film is scheduled to be released in Japan in the Summer of 2017.

Other cast members includes Yū Aoi as Rize Kamishiro, Nobuyuki Suzuki (ja) as Kōtarō Amon, and  Yo Oizumi as Kureo Mado.  The film is directed by Kentarō Hagiwara.

SAKI


 Meet Saki Miyanaga, a first year high school student who gets lured into the competitive world of mahjong by her fellow student, Nodoka Haramura.  This manga and 25-episode anime will be having its live action movie adaptation and release in Japan on February 3, 2017.

Saki live action movie is directed by Yūichi Onuma, written by Hayashi Mori and stars Minami Hamabe as the title character Saki Miyanaga.



ReLIFE


This is a relatively new anime that will already be translated into a live action movie adaptation.  ReLIFE live action film is directed by Takeshi Furusawa.  The film will be released in Japan on April 15, 2017.

Cast for the film includes:
  • Taishi Nakagawa as Arata Kaizaki
  • Yūna Taira as Chizuru Hishiro
  • Mahiro Takasugi as Kazuomi Ōga
  • Elaiza Ikeda as Rena Kariu
  • Sae Okazaki (ja) as An Onoya

FULL METAL ALCHEMIST




Edward and Al finally gets a live action movie adaptation this 2017 but you have to wait perhaps by 2018 since this film will be released in Japan this December.  Cast for Full Metal Alchemist live action includes:

  •     Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang
  •     Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye

  •     Ryuta Sato as Maes Hughes
  •     Fumiyo Kohinata as General Haruko
  •     Yasuko Matsuyuki as Lust

GINTAMA

If you had awesome fan watching Gintama anime then we are hoping that you will have tons of fun as well in this live action movie adaptation.  Warner Bros Pictures will be releasing it this 2017 in Japan although there is no exact date yet. Shun Oguri plays Gintoki Sakata while Kanna Hashimoto plays Kagura.  Will it be as fun as the anime?  Let us see.




GHOST IN THE SHELL

We have high hopes for this American adaptation of one of the most popular anime, Ghost in the Shell.  The film is directed by Rupert Sanders and written by Jonathan Herman and Jamie Moss.  Scarlett Johansson, a famous Hollywood celebrity will be playing the lead role of The Major.  It also stars Pilou Asbæk, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt.

Ghost In The Shell live action movie is set for release on March 31, 2017 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.




HIRUNAKA NO RYUSEI (DAYTIME SHOOTING STAR)

Another manga series which will be having its very own live action movie adaptation is Hirunaka no Ryūsei (ひるなかの流星?).  It is about a typical girl, Suzume Yosano who begins his hourney as a first year high school student in Tokyo after her parents decided to move there from Bangladesh.

Hirunaka No Ryusei live action is directed by Takehiko Shinjō, written by Naoko Adachi, starring Mei Nagano, Shohei Miura and Alan Shirahama.  It will be released in Japan on March 24, 2017.



DEATH NOTE


Although I would not really give you high hopes in this one since the plan for this movie is up since 2007and this is also an American adaptation.  This Hiollywood adaptation of Death Note is directed by Adam Wingard and will star Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi, Shea Whigham, and Willem Dafoe.

Will it be as good as we expected of a Death Note live action movie?  We still have to see this.

ONE WEEK FRIENDS


Officially being released in Japan on February 18, 2017, One Week Friends will be another anime-manga that will be joining our line up this year.  The film is about a high schooler, Yūki Hase  who notices that his classmate Kaori Fujimiya is always alone and seemingly has no friends. He soon realize that his new friend loses her memory every Monday but despite of that decides to continue to befriend her.  Wow!  That was one interesting story and I am sold.

The live action adaptation is directed by Shōsuke Murakami and starring Haruna Kawaguchi and Kento Yamazaki.



KYO NO KIRA-KUN


A manga-anime live action movie adaptation which will be released in Japan on February 25, 2017.  The movie stars Taishi Nakagawa and Marie Iitoyo. Movie is based on manga series “Kyo no Kira kun” by Rin Mikimoto and directed by Yasuhiro Kawamura.
