Cosplay Event: Cosplay Competition and Happy Green New Year at SM City Marilao

Naruto Cosplayers PH, a group of cosplayers, Otakus, and fans will be having their group launching on January 15, 2010 at SM City Marilao and to highlight the event an individual and group cosplay competition and JPOP Dance contest will be held.  A total of 30,000 pesos worth of SM City Gift Certificates will be at stake as prizes for the contest.  The event is in collaboration with SM City Marilao and their Green Bag project.

There will be an individual cosplay competition which is divided into two levels, Level 1 and Level 2. There will also be a group cosplay competition and JPOP dance competition. Cosplay and Otaku groups are also invited to attend because the organizers are planning a surprise for them during the event.

Here is the details of the NCPH COSPLAY FOR A CAUSE: A HAPPY GREEN NEW YEAR as posted at the NCPH Event Page:


ORGANIZER: Naruto Cosplayers PH (NCPH) in partnership with SM City Marilao.

You can get there through EDSA buses who will go directly to SM City Marilao or FX in SM North EDSA and Trinoma going to SM City Marilao.)

CAUSE: Support sustainable consumption and raise advocacy and awareness on the status of the environment in Bulacan and help in the rehabilitation and clean-up of Bulacan rivers.

DONATION: Php50.00 with FREE SM GREEN BAG.

REGISTRATION: 10am to 3pm

COMPETITION and PROGRAM PROPER: 3:30pm to 8:00pm

INDIVIDUAL COSPLAY COMPETITION DETAILS:

1. There will be 2 categories: LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2

LEVEL 1 - All cosplayers who have not won any major award (1st) in any previous competition and those who have not won 2nd and 3rd place twice in any cosplay competition.

LEVEL 2 - Any cosplayer can join this competition even amateurs who wish to compete, however, the chances of amateur cosplayers here are very minimal.

2. There will be a screening committee who will also qualify you for Level 1 or Level 2. This is in order to give cosplay competitors equal opportunity.

3. All cosplayers are welcome to join but for those who had won 1st place in any cosplay competition they are automatically for Level 2. We want to encourage more cosplayers and open the opportunity for them to develop.

4. Individual Cosplay Competition Level 2 is also open to all cosplayers regardless of whether they win or not.

5. A maximum of 100 cosplayers will be accepted.

6. Cosplayers should submit 2 copies of their reference photos.

7. Individual cosplayers can bring their own BGM and submit it during the event.

8. Each cosplayer will be given up to 2 minutes to perform.

9. Individual cosplayers can use human props and there is no limit to the number of human props as long as their performance will not exceed 2 minutes. A 10 point deduction will be made for every minute in excess. There will be a timekeeper assigned at the event to monitor this.

GROUP COSPLAY COMPETITION DETAILS:

1. Maximum of 10 cosplay groups will be allowed to compete.

2. Maximum of 5 minutes per group.

3. 5-10 members only per group.

4. Cosplayers should submit their cosplay photo reference and BGM. Submission is until January 12, 2011.

5. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR MUSIC TO ncphevents@gmail.com with the SUBJECT "GROUP COSPLAY BGM" and also indicate the name of your group.

DANCE COMPETITION DETAILS:

1. Dance contestants should use any JPop song from an anime… they can use it as is or make a remix of songs. No KPop dance will be allowed.

2. Only a max of 10 dance groups will be allowed to compete.

3. Maximum of 5 minutes per group.

GENERAL RULES:

1. All contestants should have purchased tickets for the event to be eligible to join.

2. Once the form has been submitted and you're accepted, this constitutes as an official purchase of the ticket for the event and no refund will be issued.

3. Major prizes will be sponsored by SM City Marilao.

4. Dangerous stunts, metal props and other dangerous objects or props will not be allowed.

5. You can cosplay any anime, manga, game or movie character.

6. No member of the staff or organizing committee will be allowed to participate in the cosplay event competition.

JUDGING:

1. Judges will be announced during the event.

2. There will be one judge per criteria.

3. Judges will include one representative from SM City Marilao and others are experts on cosplay and the respective criteria.


CRITERIA:

The general consensus is that there will be A JUDGE FOR EVERY CRITERIA so that the judge can focus on that exclusively.

Individual Cosplay Competition Criteria

Characterization (cosplayers resemblance to the character he/she is cosplaying in terms of personality and actions) - 30%

Costume and Accuracy (accuracy of the costume compared to the reference character, costume quality and its visual appeal) - 30%

Performance (catwalk and performance during the presentation) - 30%

Audience Appeal (how the character can relate and involve the audience. The overall impact of the cosplayer) - 10%


Group Cosplay Competition Criteria

Characterization (cosplayers resemblance to the character he/she is cosplaying in terms of personality and actions) - 25%

Costume and Accuracy (accuracy of the costume compared to the reference character, costume quality and its visual appeal) - 20%

Performance (performance during the presentation) - 35%

Audience Appeal (how the character can relate and involve the audience. The overall impact of the cosplayer) - 20%


JPOP Dance Competition Criteria

Musicality - 25%
Synchronization - 20%
Choreography - 25%
Costume - 15%
Audience Appeal - 15%
