Cosplay Event: Cosplay's Got Talent at the Riverbanks Center Marikina

Riverbanks Center, Cosplay.ph and HobbyWorx will be presenting a unique Cosplay competition format in the November 27 Cosplay's Got Talent event at the Marikina Riverbanks Center. The cosplay competition will be held in the Riverbanks Center's 4,000 square meter main activity center, it will be part of a huge event known as Hobby Expo where you can do your pre-christmas purchases before the big rush in December.

Cosplay’s Got Talent Cosplay Guidelines
==================================

  1. Cosplay’s Got Talent is open to all event attendees.
  2. Cosplay’s Got Talent will be an OPEN CATEGORY event where participants could cosplay any character that they want from any genre whether it's from an anime, manga, games, comics, movies, western animation, etc. Pls. keep in mind that Original Characters are not qualified.
  3. The cosplay event will be held on November 27, 2010.
  4. The cosplay registration will be on-site/at-con registration only which will be on on November 27, 2010.
  5. Cosplayers under eighteen (18) years of age as of cosplay event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form which will be distributed at the event.
  6. Fanservice (ie. yaoi, yuri, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited. Keep in mind that Cosplay’s Got Talent is a wholesome and a General Patronage event.
  7. Costumes that are too revealing (ie. exposes private parts) are prohibited. Scantly clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but are not encouraged. The Cosplay’s Got Talent cosplay team has the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.
  8. All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her fellow cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. Any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or property is strictly prohibited.
  9. The Cosplay’s Got Talent cosplay team, Cosplay’s Got Talent organizers and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.
  10. Cosplay’s Got Talent cosplay judges’ decisions are final and can’t be appealed.
  11. Cosplay’s Got Talent organizers reserve the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines.
  12. Registration and participation to the cosplay event constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the authority to Cosplay’s Got Talent organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered cosplayers, cosplay groups and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.
  13. Cosplay’s Got Talent organizers and its staff and their relatives up to the 2nd degree of affinity or consanguinity are disqualified from participating in the cosplay event.

Individual Cosplay Guidelines
===========================

  1. There will be an entry limit of one hundred (100) cosplayers for the Individual Cosplay event. There is a deadline for the registration and anyone who registered before the deadline quota is included to the official list of Individual Cosplay participants.
  2. Cosplay registration for the Individual Cosplay event will be both an online pre-registration and an on-site/at-con registration.
  3. The online pre-registration will be done through http://www.cosplay.ph which is hosted by Cosplay.ph. To register, you will need to have a Cosplay.ph account (registration is free).
  4. If the 100 Individual Cosplay quota has been reached but pre-registrants fail to confirm their registration from 10am-3pm on November 27, 2010, the next available slot(s) will be given to the on-site Individual Cosplay registrants.
  5. Individual Cosplay participants are only allowed to have a maximum of four (4) human props. The human props must either be in black or in regular clothes and must be there only to assist the Cosplayer.
  6. Individual Cosplay participants will be given number tags that must be worn at all times.
  7. Individual Cosplay participants are not qualified to join a Cosplay Group even with a minor role or as a stage prop.
  8. All BGMs that will be used for the cosplay skit must be in audio format (.CDA) or in MP3 format and must be within the limit of their cosplay skit. Audio CDs must be properly labeled and submitted upon registration. Details for submission will be emailed after submitting an on-line registration.
  9. Alternatively, you may send your BGM in mp3 format to jtapel@cosplay.ph with the subject "Cosplay Got Talent BGM for Group [Insert Group Name Here]" or "Cosplay Got Talent BGM for Individual [Insert Stage Name or Real Name Here]".
  10. For example: Cosplay Got Talent BGM for Illusion Brigade or Cosplay Got Talent BGM for Christian Umali. Please do not send us email with [Insert Group Name Here] in the subject.

Group Cosplay Guidelines

  1. A cosplay group must consist of at least three (3) and a maximum of thirty (30) members per group. Human props and the Cosplay Group’s Technical Director are included in the member count.
  2. There will be any entry limit of twenty (20) groups for the Group Cosplay. There is a deadline for the registration and anyone who registered before the deadline is included to the official list of Group Cosplay participants.
  3. A member of a particular cosplay group can only join ONE COSPLAY GROUP and he/she will not be allowed joining multiple cosplay group/s.
  4. A member of a particular cosplay group is not qualified to join the Individual cosplay event.
  5. The online pre-registration will be done through http://www.cosplay.ph which is hosted by Cosplay.ph. To register, you will need to have a Cosplay.ph account (registration is free).
  6. All cosplay groups are required to have a cosplay skit. Each cosplay group will be given a maximum of five (5) minutes of stage time to do their skits.
  7. A cosplay group is required to have a technical director who will assist the technical team in the usage of their BGM.
  8. All BGMs that will be used for the cosplay skit must be in audio format (.CDA) or in MP3 format and must be within the limit of their cosplay skit. Audio CDs must be properly labeled and submitted upon registration. Details for submission will be emailed after submitting an on-line registration.

Cosplay’s Got Talent Format
===========================

  1. Instead of the regular individual or group contest being separate, all contestants will be judged together with individuals and groups competing with each other while showing off their talents.
  2. Registration will be done on a last in, first out basis. In this way, the first individual or group Cosplay contestant to register would be the last one to take to the stage. Therefore, the last individual or group Cosplay contestant to register would also go up on stage first.
  3. Judges will be allowed to ask the contestants questions and comment on their performances. Contestants will be required to answer these questions.
  4. Out of all the contestants, the Top 5 Cosplay Groups and Individuals with the highest scores will become finalists based on their scores and will be brought on stage for the final announcements.
  5. Awarding and prizes will be announced on-stage with the awards being given to the Best Individual, Best Group and finally, the best Overall Performance.
  6. Judging will be based on the following Criteria:


  • Accuracy (15%): how accurate the costumes were to the original source material.
  • Craftsmanship (25%): how difficult the costumes were to make and how well the costumes were made.
  • Performance (40%): how difficult the performance was and how well it was executed.
  • Interview (15%): how well the interview questions were answered.
  • Audience Impact (5%): how effective the performance was able to entertain the audience.

Awards and Prizes
===========================

  • There will be one (1) winner that can either be a group or an individual that will be declared the overall champion of the contest. That group or individual Cosplayer will be awarded P10,000 worth of cash and prizes.
  • There will be one (1) winner that must be an individual. That winner will be declared the individual Cosplay champion of the contest and will be awarded P5,000 worth of cash and prizes.
  • There will be one (1) winner that must be a group. That winner will be declared the Group Cosplay champion of the contest and will be awarded P5,000 worth of cash and prizes.
